BJ's Restaurant and Brewhouse "Bar & Grill" Doral, The Falls, Pembroke Pines

What is BJ's?
BJ's Restaurants serve quality food and fresh, handcrafted beers in a casual, high-energy atmosphere. Our restaurant team members exude a warm, friendly and energetic spirit that conveys a sense of honest value and a commitment to exceed the expectations of our guests. We have a lively bar with plenty of televisions throughout the restaurant, but we're not a "sports bar." We offer our unique handcrafted beer, but we're not a "brew pub." We're just a high-energy, casual dining restaurant that offers quality food and handcrafted beer at a good value to our guests. BJ's offer a high-quality, extensive (approximately 100 items) menu featuring BJ's signature deep dish pizza, complemented by generously portioned salads, sandwiches, soups, pasta, entrées, snacks and small bites, our own line of handcrafted microbrewed beers and of course our famous Pizookie® dessert.
Pizza Trio - Also a Great Kid's Menu
Quality, flavor, value, moderate prices and sincere service remain distinct attributes of the BJ's experience. BJ's is popular with all ages – kids, families, young adults, "baby boomers" and senior citizens – and all income levels. Our average check per guest is about the same (or less) than what you would pay for an average experience at one of the "mass market" casual dining restaurants. The difference is that at BJ's we believe you get much more for your money!
What is the difference between BJ's Pizza & Grill, BJ's Restaurant & Brewery and BJ's Restaurant & Brewhouse?
In 1978 our first restaurant opened in Santa Ana, California and was called "BJ's Chicago Pizzeria." The unique deep dish pizza was an immediate hit and additional "Pizzeria" restaurants were opened in beach cities along Southern California's coastline from San Diego to Los Angeles.
BJ's Jeremiah Red Brewhouse
As the years went by, significant changes were made to the BJ's menu and the name was consequently revised to “BJ's Pizza & Grill.” Then in 1996 the first large-format restaurant was opened in Brea, California. The introduction of fine handcrafted beers was welcomed by guests and the newly renamed "BJ's Restaurant & Brewery" concept was launched.
Most of our restaurants do not have on-site breweries. Instead they have energetic bars with dozens of craft beers on tap - both BJ's award winning handcrafted beers and the finest craft beers available. These large-format restaurants operate under the name "BJ's Restaurant and Brewhouse."

New menu items and new beers have been added over the years as the BJ's brand has expanded throughout the United States.

Does BJ's offer any vegetarian dishes?
BJ's offers a variety of vegetarian dishes. Popular items include our Avocado Egg Rolls: crispy, golden wontons wrapped around a blend of avocados, cream cheese, sun dried tomatoes, red onions, cilantro, pine nuts, chipotle pepper and spices. We also offer a variety of salads, including our Garden Medley Salad served with crisp romaine lettuce, artichoke hearts, fire-roasted red peppers, tomatoes, red onions, feta cheese, drizzled with our balsamic vinaigrette dressing.
And of course our signature BJ's deep dish pizza has many vegetarian options. Our Vegetarian Pizza is topped with mushrooms, green peppers, black olives, white onions and fresh Roma tomatoes. You may also build your own veggie pizza from a long list of ingredients, such as pineapple, sweet corn, fresh basil and artichoke hearts.

And you can't leave BJ's without diving into our legendary Pizookie® dessert. This is a freshly baked, hot out of the oven, rich and delicious cookie topped with two scoops of ice cream and served in its own deep dish. Flavors include Oreo cookie, chocolate chunk, white chocolate macadamia nut, peanut butter and oatmeal raisin walnut.

Do you have a gluten-free menu?

BJ’s Story

It was 1978 when two guys who had a great recipe for deep dish pizza opened the first BJ’s in Santa Ana, California. The pizza was an immediate hit and, as years went by, new BJ’s restaurants were opened in beach cities along Southern California’s coastline. In 1996, with seven restaurants in operation from San Diego to Los Angeles, the first BJ’s brewery began production in our new restaurant in Brea, California. The introduction of fine handcrafted beer was welcomed by guests and the newly renamed BJ’s Restaurant & Brewery concept was launched. New menu items and new beers have been added through the years as the BJ’s brand has expanded across the U.S.

Black Bean & Sweet Potato Quesadillas

If you haven’t tried them already, another staple that you must have if you are gluten-free is La Tortilla Factory Smart and Delicious Wraps, Wheat Free Gluten Free.  They are delicious tortillas made from teff and millet, two very nutritious gluten-free grains.  You can use them in recipes where you would normally use a flour tortilla.  They are perfect for making burritos, wraps and also quesadillas!  However, if you are dairy-free, the word quesadilla seems like an oxymoron.  Ironically, this recipe works great with or without cheese.  I can eat a little goat cheese now and then, so I grated a little fresh goat cheddar and it was delicious.  But if that’s not for you, no worries, you will still enjoy it.  It’s a very hearty vegetarian meal with a little spice, perfect for an early autumn day. The bulk of the preparation to this recipe goes into preparing the sweet potato filling.  Here are the ingredients you will need:

2 medium sweet potatoes or yams
1 small poblano pepper, roasted
1/2 yellow onion
3 cloves garlic
1 tsp dried oregano
1/2 tsp ground cumin
1/2 tsp chili powder, more or less to taste
1/2 tsp cayenne or to taste
1/2 tsp sea salt
3 T olive oil

1,000 Gluten-Free RecipesCut the sweet potatoes into 1-inch pieces.  You can leave the skins on - as long as they are organic and well-scrubbed, the skins are very nutritious.  (Plus it is also a time-saver not to peel them!)  Process in a food processor until shredded.  Put the poblano pepper under the broiler for about 10 minutes, turning until all sides start to bubble and char.  Carefully peel back the skins and set aside to cool.  Dice the onion and mince the garlic.  Heat the olive oil in a heavy skillet and saute the onion and garlic until fragrant.  Add the shredded sweet potato, the spices and salt.  When the pepper is cool enough to handle, remove the seeds and dice the pepper.  Add this to the sweet potato mixture and saute for about 10 minutes, stirring often so it doesn’t stick to the pan and adding more olive oil if necessary.

Meanwhile, prepare 1 cup black beans, either from a can or if you freeze your own slow-cooked beans, bring them to a simmer on the stovetop, then drain.  In a larger skillet, heat a tortilla on one side.  Flip it over, then spoon half of the sweet potato mixture and half of the black beans.  If you are using cheese, grate some on top of this mixture.  Add some steamed kale or chard or spinach, then fold over the top.  Continue to heat until the cheese melts, flipping it if you dare, though it is challenging to do without losing bits of sweet potato all over the stove…finally, top with fresh tomato slices or homemade salsa, and serve.  (Shown above with one of the few fruits of my first tomato plant, which finally materialized here in September due to a colder and foggier than average summer in the Bay area.)
