The Local - Craft Food and Drink - Coral Gables

Welcome to The Local – Craft Food and Drink.  The Local is a neighborhood restaurant and bar in the heart of Coral Gables, featuring handcrafted food, craft beer, and classic cocktails.

The Local is the best place in Miami to enjoy great locally sourced food, 24 unique and rotating craft beers on tap, and a carefully curated selection of small-batch craft wine and spirits in a warm and welcoming pub environment.

Our chalkboard is updated daily with seasonal food and cocktail specials as we take pride in offering quality, responsibly-sourced options to our customers.

Next time you're in the neighborhood, stop by and see what Miami's been missing for so long.

In the Local Press:

Known for its craft beers and locally sourced food, The Local, 150 Giralda Ave., recently celebrated its first anniversary with Mayor Jim Cason helping snip a ceremonial ribbon.

Patrons at the event on Friday evening, May 11, enjoyed appetizers and $2 craft beers to toast the restaurant’s first year of operation. The party continued on Saturday, May 12, with specials all night and the launch of the new summer menu.
Located at 150 Giralda Ave., The Local / Craft Food & Drink features a warm and welcoming pub environment where guests can choose from 24 unique and rotating craft beers on tap and a selection of small-batch craft wine and spirits.

Voted BEST BAR FOOD in Miami - The Local is not only a great little neighborhood bar (it has 24 beers on tap) but also a damn good place to grab a bite. This is not the standard parade of chicken wings and sliders.

The Local is not only a great little neighborhood bar (it has 24 beers on tap) but also a damn good place to grab a bite. This is not the standard parade of chicken wings and sliders. The menu instead offers a well-thought-out mix of globally influenced dishes dressed in gastropub garb. Seasonal specials are updated daily, and chef de cuisine Vince Tien prefers that the food be procured locally whenever possible. Florida grouper is deep-fried for a traditional take on fish 'n' chips ($14) and then served with hand-cut thick fries and a dill tartar sauce for dipping.

A bowl of steamed mussels ($13) is packed with chunks of cured pork belly and surrounded by a pool of "mushroom miso beurre fondue." We love the sticky gochujan glazed ribs ($14) topped with "chopped kimchee nuts" and scallions, and the glazed doughnut bread pudding ($8) with salted caramel and a brown butter crème anglaise. We can't say enough about the Local's love of pleasing patrons. On a recent visit, a dish that we ordered failed to arrive. Executive sous-chef Paul Cantrell appeared from the kitchen to apologize profusely when it showed up on our bill, and then he raced to follow us outside as we left, with free drink tickets in hand for our next visit. We can't remember another white coat ever following us into the street.

The 20-deep draft list includes craft favorites like Brooklyn Brown Ale and Cigar City Maduro (from Tampa), plus hop-heavy Dogfish Head 90-Minute IPA, Stone IPA, and Oskar Blues Dale's Pale Ale. If you'd like bottled accompaniment for the house-smoked wahoo rillettes or pan-roasted wreckfish with toasted faro, look for Cigar City's tropical-hoppy Papaya IPA or the sourish Vuja De, brewed with elderberry flowers and black currants.

BJ's Restaurant and Brewhouse "Bar & Grill" Doral, The Falls, Pembroke Pines

What is BJ's?
BJ's Restaurants serve quality food and fresh, handcrafted beers in a casual, high-energy atmosphere. Our restaurant team members exude a warm, friendly and energetic spirit that conveys a sense of honest value and a commitment to exceed the expectations of our guests. We have a lively bar with plenty of televisions throughout the restaurant, but we're not a "sports bar." We offer our unique handcrafted beer, but we're not a "brew pub." We're just a high-energy, casual dining restaurant that offers quality food and handcrafted beer at a good value to our guests. BJ's offer a high-quality, extensive (approximately 100 items) menu featuring BJ's signature deep dish pizza, complemented by generously portioned salads, sandwiches, soups, pasta, entrées, snacks and small bites, our own line of handcrafted microbrewed beers and of course our famous Pizookie® dessert.
Pizza Trio - Also a Great Kid's Menu
Quality, flavor, value, moderate prices and sincere service remain distinct attributes of the BJ's experience. BJ's is popular with all ages – kids, families, young adults, "baby boomers" and senior citizens – and all income levels. Our average check per guest is about the same (or less) than what you would pay for an average experience at one of the "mass market" casual dining restaurants. The difference is that at BJ's we believe you get much more for your money!
What is the difference between BJ's Pizza & Grill, BJ's Restaurant & Brewery and BJ's Restaurant & Brewhouse?
In 1978 our first restaurant opened in Santa Ana, California and was called "BJ's Chicago Pizzeria." The unique deep dish pizza was an immediate hit and additional "Pizzeria" restaurants were opened in beach cities along Southern California's coastline from San Diego to Los Angeles.
BJ's Jeremiah Red Brewhouse
As the years went by, significant changes were made to the BJ's menu and the name was consequently revised to “BJ's Pizza & Grill.” Then in 1996 the first large-format restaurant was opened in Brea, California. The introduction of fine handcrafted beers was welcomed by guests and the newly renamed "BJ's Restaurant & Brewery" concept was launched.
Most of our restaurants do not have on-site breweries. Instead they have energetic bars with dozens of craft beers on tap - both BJ's award winning handcrafted beers and the finest craft beers available. These large-format restaurants operate under the name "BJ's Restaurant and Brewhouse."

Hawaiian Mahi-Mahi
New menu items and new beers have been added over the years as the BJ's brand has expanded throughout the United States.

Does BJ's offer any vegetarian dishes?
BJ's offers a variety of vegetarian dishes. Popular items include our Avocado Egg Rolls: crispy, golden wontons wrapped around a blend of avocados, cream cheese, sun dried tomatoes, red onions, cilantro, pine nuts, chipotle pepper and spices. We also offer a variety of salads, including our Garden Medley Salad served with crisp romaine lettuce, artichoke hearts, fire-roasted red peppers, tomatoes, red onions, feta cheese, drizzled with our balsamic vinaigrette dressing.
And of course our signature BJ's deep dish pizza has many vegetarian options. Our Vegetarian Pizza is topped with mushrooms, green peppers, black olives, white onions and fresh Roma tomatoes. You may also build your own veggie pizza from a long list of ingredients, such as pineapple, sweet corn, fresh basil and artichoke hearts.

And you can't leave BJ's without diving into our legendary Pizookie® dessert. This is a freshly baked, hot out of the oven, rich and delicious cookie topped with two scoops of ice cream and served in its own deep dish. Flavors include Oreo cookie, chocolate chunk, white chocolate macadamia nut, peanut butter and oatmeal raisin walnut.

Do you have a gluten-free menu?
We are proud to offer our guests Gluten-Free Thin Crust Pizza. Our restaurants can provide information for guests who have food and allergen sensitivities or an intolerance to gluten. Please ask your server for a copy of our Food and Allergen Sensitivities Menu and Gluten-Free Selections, or click here for further information.

BJ's Gluten-Free Selections
BJ’s Story

It was 1978 when two guys who had a great recipe for deep dish pizza opened the first BJ’s in Santa Ana, California. The pizza was an immediate hit and, as years went by, new BJ’s restaurants were opened in beach cities along Southern California’s coastline. In 1996, with seven restaurants in operation from San Diego to Los Angeles, the first BJ’s brewery began production in our new restaurant in Brea, California. The introduction of fine handcrafted beer was welcomed by guests and the newly renamed BJ’s Restaurant & Brewery concept was launched. New menu items and new beers have been added through the years as the BJ’s brand has expanded across the U.S.

Grilled Pork Chops
Our passionate desire to provide extraordinary value for our guests in a high-energy, fun, child-friendly environment, along with a sincere commitment to support the communities in which we do business, goes to the heart of what differentiates BJ’s from other restaurants. It is because of you, our guests, that we have been able to realize a dream and create the company and culture that thrives today. Thank you for being the biggest and most important part of what keeps our dreams alive!

BJ’s Vision
To be the very definition of "WOW" for the casual dining experience.

BJ’s Promise
Be the Best — Never Compromise!

Shareable Appetizers
The BJ's Gold Standard of Operational Excellence
Our genuine commitment is to take pride in passionately connecting with every guest, on every visit, through flawless and relentless execution of every detail during every shift — to create and keep fanatical fans of BJ's concept and brand.

Purple People Eatery Food Truck "Fresh, Freaky, Street Food"

Purple People Eatery is a Miami-based food truck specializing in fresh, freaky street food. It was built in late 2010 in Mississippi, home of Head Chef David Shipman’s father. The name comes from an old film featuring a one-eyed monster with a horn. The menu, designed by Shipman and Duncan, pays homage to the film: each item represents one facet of the beast. From buffalo burgers to Mexican Coke, they offer a take on gourmet food found nowhere else in the Miami food truck scene. The purple truck debuted on February 19, 2011, and is already well on its way towards becoming a local icon.

Conceived by Chefs David Shipman and Michelle Duncan, the PPE showcases their exceptional culinary talents to the hungry masses.

Chef David Shipman is a Miami native. Dissatisfied with his life as a University of Miami psychology student and unwilling to join the corporate masses, Shipman decided to leave college and pursue his dreams instead. Though already skilled in the culinary arts, he enrolled at le Cordon Bleu in Miramar, Florida to refine his expertise. After years of sharpening his skillset even further at some of Miami’s premier restaurants, he decided to once again take a risk and start his own food truck.

Club Med Sandwich
Chef Michelle Duncan has crisscrossed the states in search of culinary glory. From the top restaurants in California, like Susan Feniger’s Street in LA, to the most happening spots on South Beach and Midtown Miami, she is an expert in the way of the meal. Her Asian background, inherited from her Filipino mother, gives her an Eastern perspective on cooking that she credits for her distinguished style.

Soyka, The Restaurant & Lounge "In The Heart of Miami"

Soyka, The Restaurant & Lounge, opened its doors to a doubting public in the spring of 1999. Mr. Soyka originally purchased the building to house his vintage car collection, never dreaming of opening yet another restaurant or cafe.  But before all of the cars had even found their way to new homes, Mark decided to open his namesake restaurant.

With nothing in the area that catered to the locals and the VIP of the business and government community downtown, Soyka was packed the day it opened it’s doors and remains so to this very day, with the most unique, casual ambiance and comfort dinning, in all of Miami, that bring guests back to dine with us several times a week….truly making it their dinning room away from home.

Set away from the main dining room, the Gardens are ideal for special occasions, private parties and banquets, with options of seating from 10-200 people.  You can also order your Soyka TO GO to enjoy at home or in the office, by looking at our Menu online and then calling it in.  Soyka's new Happy Hour is from 3-7pm Monday through Friday with $3 Beers and House Wines and $5 Premium Well drinks. Soyka is an incomparable experience of "Comfort Dinning" and we hope to see you soon!
